Kindergarten Parent/Teacher Contract

The Kindergarten Teachers will be teaching your child these skills in order to get them ready for first grade:

All letter names and sounds

(21 names and sounds with at least 4 vowels)

Blending 3 sound words

Writing all capital and lower case letters

Reading and writing numbers to 20

Basic Classroom Behavior

Concepts of Print:

(at least 5 of 7)

Print represents oral language and can be read

What a letter is

What a word is

What a Sentence is

The purpose of capital letters

Spaces between words

How print is read--from left to right and top to bottom

In order to go on to first grade, your child should master these skills  (Parentheses show minimum amount mastered).  These are NOT the only skills your child will learn, just the MINIMUM to be ready for first grade.
