Introduction Enter a world of fantasy, friends, and fun! In this novel, you will learn about a wonderful world called Narnia, the inhabitants who live there, and the friends who visit. Use your imagination and expand the fantasy into new horizons.
Task You will choose ONE of the five projects below to complete by the deadline provided.
Process
--in the reference section in encyclopedias --search the OPAC for books in the nonfiction section on your topic --use the books on reserve for 4th grade --the Internet using the suggested web sites for each project
--What did I do that was really good? --What could I do better next time? --Which sources helped me the most to learn about my project?
PROJECTS
Create a kids meal package for a fast food restaurant to promote The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Decorate the container with colorful scenes from the book. Design a toy that would be included with the meal as a free gift. Web sites that may be of use: Kids Meals at McDonald’s (Aslan would want you to consider nutrition) Burger King Toy Recall (Aslan would also want you to consider safety)
Make a flag for Narnia. Use some sort of fabric and create your own design. Use your knowledge of Narnia to determine what it will look like.
Create a game based on the novel. You may model it after a game that already exists, but it must be modified to pertain to our book. For example, your game may follow the rules of Monopoly, but instead of going to jail, you are sent to the closet and the chance questions quiz you about the story. Web sites to consider:
Create a map of Narnia. Use poster board or a very large sheet of paper. The map must be colored and contain a key explaining what everything stands for. Websites which may help: Maps of the Chronicles of Narnia
Create a blueprint of the house that the kids and the professor lived in. Label each room and use your book to determine all of the rooms in the house and where they are. Some sample house plan blueprints
Evaluation You will receive 1 test grade for completing this project.
Conclusion At the end of this project you will not only have read a wonderful classic fantasy novel, but inspired your own imagination to be creative as well.
